I recently stayed at Hotel G San Francisco for four nights and found it to be a decent base for exploring the city. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean, but I found it rather small and dated, lacking that modern and airy vibe I prefer. The location is central, just a block from Union Square, but the surrounding area had its challenges, particularly the proximity to the Tenderloin. Overall, it served its purpose as a place to sleep between my city adventures. 🌆
Rooms
6.0
My room was small and quite dark, with old-fashioned furniture that didn't feel welcoming. It would have been much better if it were more spacious and modern, providing a cozy retreat after a long day.
Service
9.0
The staff members were incredibly friendly and attentive. I felt well cared for with little touches like complimentary toothbrushes and water on arrival. Their helpfulness significantly enhanced my experience.
Location
7.0
The location was extremely convenient, just behind Union Square, making it easy to walk to various attractions. However, I felt uncomfortable with the nearby Tenderloin area, which had visible homelessness.
Dining
5.0
While the hotel didn't offer breakfast, the presence of nearby dining options made it manageable. I missed having a cafe or restaurant on site for morning coffee, especially when traveling with kids.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities were standard, with basic amenities, but I noticed a facility fee for some essentials like Wi-Fi. It would be nice to have more included without extra charges.

5.4/10
I recently stayed at Hotel G for a few nights. and it was quite a mixed experience. The location is fantastic, being close to Union Square, but my room was a bit small and felt outdated. However, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay, which made a positive impact.
Rooms
6.0
The room had an industrial vibe with original wood floors, which I liked. but it was also quite small and the decor felt a bit dark and dingy. I enjoyed the powerful shower and appreciated the extra touches like earplugs by the bed. Unfortunately, the loud heating unit and the street noise were quite bothersome, especially at night.
Service
9.0
The service was definitely a highlight. Everyone I interacted with was really friendly and accommodating. from check-in to housekeeping. They were attentive and quick to fulfill my requests, making me feel welcomed throughout my stay.
Location
8.0
I loved the location. very central and great for tourists. It was just a short walk to Union Square, but I'd advise being cautious when wandering around, as the nearby Tenderloin area had a lot of homeless individuals. Still, the access to public transport was a major plus.
Dining
6.0
Dining options weren't included with the room, which was a bit of a downside. especially for someone traveling with family. However, I appreciated having the option to grab a drink or snack nearby.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had decent facilities, including housekeeping and a good espresso machine in the room. I also liked the availability of help for organizing airport transport. However, I did feel some additional services could be improved during peak times.

7.0/10
My stay at Hotel G San Francisco had its ups and downs. While the location was fantastic and the staff were friendly, I faced some significant issues with unexpected charges. The room was clean and comfortable, but it felt a touch cramped for two people.
Rooms
7.0
The queen room I stayed in was clean but quite small. I often found myself needing to communicate with my wife if I needed to use the bathroom after a shower. However, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the overall decor felt modern.
Service
6.0
The staff were overall very pleasant and efficient, helping me with my luggage and providing assistance when I left my ID in the car. However, my experience with the billing department was frustrating, especially when it came to unexplained holds on my card.
Location
10.0
The hotel's location was perfect for exploring the city, being close to Union Square and transit options. It made getting around really easy, which I appreciated during my stay.
Dining
7.0
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try the dining options as much as I’d like. I did hear good things about the restaurant on-site, but it was a pity that I missed out.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities were decent overall, though finding parking for check-in was a bit of a hassle. The added charges for Wi-Fi were also disappointing since other locations typically offer it for free.

During my recent stay at Hotel G in San Francisco, I found the location to be fantastic, situated just a stone's throw away from Union Square. However, the room quality did not match my expectations, especially given the high cost. While the lobby and hallway aesthetics were pleasant, the elevators posed a significant inconvenience throughout my stay.
Rooms
5.0
The room I stayed in felt outdated and lacked the quality I hoped for. The bathroom was decent, but the overall space left much to be desired. In fact, I was initially given access to an occupied room, which was unsettling.
Service
5.0
The level of service varied. While some staff were friendly and helpful, I encountered a manager whose response to a query was quite dismissive. Additionally, the cleaning staff skipped the refresh of my room entirely, which was disappointing.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location is superb, making it easy to explore nearby shops and public transport options. Being close to Union Square was a definite advantage.
Dining
5.0
Dining options in the hotel were limited, with no breakfast included in the room rate. There was a bar/restaurant on-site, but I didn't take advantage of it during my stay.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were a mixed bag. While the lobby had a nice aesthetic, the elevator issues were a major drawback, forcing me to carry my bags down multiple flights.

I had a pretty good experience at Hotel G, especially the location right next to Union Square. The clean, stylish room came with neat touches like plush robes and a Nespresso machine. However, I did deal with some annoying noise issues from neighboring rooms, which affected my sleep a bit. Overall, I would recommend this place for its boutique vibe and great service but wish the soundproofing was better.
